E-bike rider killed on Dupont Boulevard Saturday night in Dagsboro

A fatal collision between a pickup truck and an electric bicycle claimed the life of a 79-year-old man in Dagsboro on Saturday night, Delaware State Police reported. The incident unfolded around 6:14

A fatal collision between a pickup truck and an electric bicycle claimed the life of a 79-year-old man in Dagsboro on Saturday night, Delaware State Police reported.

The incident unfolded around 6:14 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2024, along Dupont Boulevard just north of Molly Field Road. According to police investigators, the cyclist was attempting to cross Dupont Boulevard near Cricket Street when he rode into the path of a 2016 Ford F-150.

Police stated the Ford could not avoid the e-bike, and the two collided in the left southbound lane of Dupont Boulevard.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding the victim's identity pending notification of family members. The driver of the Ford, a 46-year-old man from Frankford was not injured.

The crash closed the roadway for nearly while investigators processed the scene. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating the incident.
